Brussels, 12 Dec 2005
The international workshop 'Ethical and social implications of biometric identification technology: towards an international approach' will take place in Brussels, Belgium, on 15 and 16 December.
The workshop is being organised by the European Commission's DG Research in the context of an EU funded research project on 'Biometric identification technology ethics' - BITE.
The workshop will address the international dimension of social, legal and ethical concerns related to biometrics. Concerns are based on a variety of factors, including fears about the centralisation of biometric identification information, and the potential for misuse of these data.
