February 27, 2002

Brussels, 26 February 2002

A joint European southern observatory (ESO), European organisation for nuclear research (CERN) and European space agency (ESA) symposium on astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics will take place in Garching bei München, Germany, from March 4 to 7 2002.

The event, the first to be co-organised and co-sponsored by all three organisations, aims to give a broad overview of scientific areas of interest to the three organisations, including current observational cosmology, searches for dark matter, high energy astrophysics, particle physics, extra-solar planets and future perspectives at ESO, CERN and ESA.

A press conference will be held at the event.
