April 5, 2002

Brussels, 04 April 2002

ASTRA 2002, the seventh European space agency (ESA) workshop on 'Advanced space technologies for robotics and automation,' will take place from 19 to 21 November 2002 at the European space research and technology centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, the Netherlands.

The event, organised by the robotics section of ESA's Technical and Operational Support directorate, aims to provide a forum for information exchange and discussion for the European space automation and robotics (A&R) community.

It will provide an up-to-date picture of planned space missions where A&R could play a major role, the A&R technology needs which can be derived from these application scenarios, the current status of European research and development programmes in the field of space A&R and new technology trends in the field.
