The European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) are organising conference on science and society that will be held in Heidelberg, Germany, on 28 and 29 October.
The conference is divided in four sessions on the following topics:
- preventing the misuse of biological knowledge;
- security and the freedom of research;
- science and technology of identification;
- information technology in the knowledge society.
The tradition of these conferences is to promote mutual interest, understanding, and dialogue between biologists and a variety of other sectors of society that are concerned with the impact of modern biology. The conference is open to the public, and there is no registration fee.
