EMBO launches new life sciences mobility portal

Brussels, 29 Jan 2004

The European molecular biology organisation (EMBO) has launched a new online life sciences mobility consultancy (LSMC), with help from the European Commission's research Framework Programme.

The website is designed to provide researchers worldwide with access to information on mobility within Europe, says EMBO. It includes searchable information on grants, fellowships, awards, workshops and practical courses in the life sciences, as well as listings of scientific vacancies throughout Europe.

'We designed this resource to encourage research scientists to display greater mobility and to help ease mobility to, and within, Europe,' explains EMBO's mobility consultant, Sabine Rehberger-Schneider.

Other features on the site include a scientific partner search database, a section where researchers can post their personal experiences of mobility, and a complete collection of links to other relevant websites, such as the Commission's pan-European researcher mobility portal.

The creation of the EMBO site was supported with funding from the 'quality of life and management of living resources' section of the Commission's Fifth Framework Programme.
