Brussels, 14 March 2002
An international seminar on 'perspectives for applying and developing the new technologies in education, organised by the Spanish Presidency stressed the importance of avoiding the digital divide and of promoting technological literacy on 12 March.
Education authorities and officials with responsibility for training and education policies in Europe and Latin America, experts in educational research and in the application of information and communication technologies to education and private companies specialising in educational content attended the event in Murcia, Spain.
The conclusions referred to the importance of promoting technological literacy as a fundamental guarantee that information will lead to knowledge. They also stressed the importance of including the teaching profession in the process of continuous new technology training.
