The Department of Trade and Industry has appointed a director of innovation to develop links between the research community and industry.
David Hughes, currently special projects director at BAE Systems, will develop and implement innovation policy. He is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
