Alumnus to be proud of No 62 is American politician Alfonse d'Amato, senator (Republican) from the state of New York.

As chairman of the devastatingly successful Dole for President campaign, Senator d'Amato has been able to call upon such affection among those who know him best in his home state that Rudolph Giuliani, the first Republican mayor of New York in a generation, is widely predicted to break party ranks and endorse President Clinton. Senator d'Amato's charm and persuasive ability were polished at the upstate New York University of Syracuse.
