September 13, 2004

Brussels, 10 Sep 2004

On 4 October 2004, the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) will be holding a seminar on participating in the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) in the areas of forestry, climate and sustainable land management.

The event will feature UK National Contact Points (NCPs), scientists with experience of winning FP6 funding, and other experts on EU framework programmes. The focus will be on funding opportunities within the Sustainable Development, Global Change and Ecosystems thematic priority, where the European Commission has allocated 700 million euro to support research in this field.

Topics covered will include lessons learned from previous FP6 calls, what makes a good proposal and how small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) can participate. The seminar will also highlight national funding opportunities, and offer an opportunity for networking and building relationships for future collaboration.
