Around 52,000 attended the protest through central London last week, making it the biggest student demonstration in a generation, according to the National Union of Students. Slogans spotted on placards included: "Won't somebody think of our children?"; "Where's your (arts and) humanity?"; "Maybe we should charge primary school children next?"; and "£9,000 fees! Are you pulling my Clegg?".
