Alumnus to be proud of No. 57 is currently featured in a clearing bank advertising campaign which displays him in legal dress and announces that he would have "ended up in court" without the advertiser's help. The reality about David Gower, classical left-handed batsman turned ubiquitous cricket broadcaster, is that he took more than adequate precautions against such a fate by dropping out of his law course at University College, London after one year.
