Delegations will find attached a proposal by the COST Office on the above subject to be examined by the JAF Group at its meeting on 16-17 February 2005, when preparing the 161st CSO meeting.

Comments, in particular from delegations not represented in the JAF Group, possibly in the form of suggested amendments, should be sent to the COST Secretariat (cost@consilium.eu.int) with copies to the President (francesco.fedi@tiscali.it) and the COST Office (amayer@cost.esf.org) by 11 February 2005 at the latest.

Following examination by JAF and having taken account of comments of all partners, a revised version of the attached document will be submitted to the CSO for approval at its forthcoming meeting. The proposal will entail a draft mandate for the creation of a TC "Advanced Physical Sciences and Technologies" which is laid down in the Annex to the attached document.
