Brussels, 14 Mar 2003

CORDIS, the European Commission's Research and Development Information Service, is hosting a growing interface on national research programmes related to nanotechnology, materials and production processes.

Research on nanotechnologies and nano-sciences, knowledge-based multifunctional materials and new production processes and devices is covered by the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6). The European Commission is also carrying out a survey on current nationally funded activities and initiatives in these fields. The fledging results of this survey are made available via a searchable interface on CORDIS.

Information on over 60 national activities is available, covering objectives, budget indications and participation rules as well as descriptions of priorities and contact details. Recent additions cover programmes in Denmark, Germany, Greece, Ireland and the United Kingdom. All the Member States will be covered shortly and accessible through this central search feature.

The new page aims to offer a comprehensive gateway and to support the establishment of a European Research Area combining national and European research efforts in the fields covered by nanotechnology.
