Students living away from home for the first time have been singled out as the targets of a consumer rights website, launched this week by the Office for Fair Trading.
As well as providing online advice on debt and consumer rights, the website will show
students how to use the small claims court, how to draw up a debt plan and how to get a good deal on a used car.
An OFT spokesperson said: "It is important that students are armed with the information they need, presented in a form that speaks their language."
Beer mats and posters carrying details of the website will soon appear at student unions all over the country.
