Conference to encourage take-up of IST research results

A conference aiming to stimulate the take-up of research results by European industry, and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular, will take place in Bologna, Italy from 22 to 24 October.

'eChallenges e-2003' will focus on applied information society technologies (IST) research. The programme combines keynote presentations, technical papers, business case studies, workshops and tutorials and an exhibition. The main areas covered will be e-business, e-government, organisational knowledge, e-work and knowledge work and eEurope 2005.

Speakers will include Rosalie Zobel, Director for IST at the Commission's Information Society DG.

The event will also provide a forum to highlight the achievements of the Fifth Framework Programme as well as related regional and national initiatives, and will take a look at the thematic priorities under the Sixth Framework Programme and the European Research Area.
