Conference on renewable energy sources and the rational use of energy for islands

Brussels, 16 Jul 2004

A conference on renewable energy sources (RES) and the rational use of energy (RUE) for islands, entitled 'RES for island', will take place in Larnaka, Cyprus, on 30 and 31 August.

The event will address issues related to sustainable development for islands, and will present the most recent research and development in the areas of RES and RUE. It aims to show how islands can reduce their dependence on energy import and how research and technology can be developed and transferred to those isolated energy markets.

Participants at the event will include experts and decision makers from government, international agencies, universities, research centres, technology suppliers and energy agencies.
