Commission publishes aeronautics call for proposals

The European Commission has published a call for proposals in the area of aeronautics under the Sixth Framework Programme's activity 'aeronautics and space'. This is one of the areas covered by the 'integrating and strengthening the European Research Area' specific programme.

The areas covered by this call are:
-- strengthening competitiveness
- open upstream research (subjects 1.a to 1.l in section 1.3.1.1 of the work programme);
- focused downstream research (subjects 1 to 4 in section 1.3.2 of the work programme);
- networking European aeronautics research (section 1.3.3 of the work programme);

--improving environmental impact with regard to emissions and noise
- open upstream research (subjects 2.a to 2.i in section 1.3.1.2 of the work programme);
- focused downstream research (subjects 5 and 6 in section 1.3.2 of the work programme);
- networking European aeronautics research (subject 1 in section 1.3.3 of the work programme);

--improving aircraft safety and security
- open upstream research (subjects 3.a to 3.e in section 1.3.1.3 of the work programme);
- focused downstream research (subjects 7 and 8 in section 1.3.2 of the work programme);
- networking European aeronautics research (section 1.3.3 of the work programme);

--increasing the operational capacity and safety of the air transport system
- open upstream research (subjects 4.a, 4.b, 4.c and 4.g in section 1.3.1.4 of the work programme);
- focused downstream research (subject 9 in section 1.3.2 of the work programme);
- networking European aeronautics research (section 1.3.3 of the work programme).

In specifying the instruments to be used in these areas, the call requests the use of Integrated Projects (IP), Networks of Excellence (NoE), specific targeted research projects and coordination actions. Proposers are advised to consult the full call text at the address below in order to find out the particular instruments requested for each area.

The total indicative budget for this call is 300 million euro.
