Colleges chosen for excellence network

* Sixty-nine colleges have been chosen to join the Learning and Skills Council's programme for developing a network of Centres of Vocational Excellence across the UK. The colleges were chosen to become part of the £100 million, three-year initiative.

Meanwhile, 33 colleges have been presented with beacon awards for innovative work by lifelong learning minister Margaret Hodge. The awards include a £4,200 grant for outstanding learning and teaching practice.
