Loughborough University has been awarded Pounds 201,000 by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation to fund staff who wish to develop new technology for commercial use. The cash will be used to free them from teaching, research and administration, to pay for them to use university facilities and to allow them to try commercialising new developments without having to leave their academic posts. Money will also be available for specialist advice on finance and other topics. The first awards will probably be made in September.
