Writer Njabulo Ndebele has been appointed vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Town. Formerly vice-chancellor of the University of the North, Professor Ndebele has just completed a year as scholar-in-residence at the Ford Foundation, New York, and was appointed to the De Beers chair of English in Cape Town's English department earlier this year.
