Cambridge pledges Pounds 1.3m to aid RAE

Cambridge University has earmarked Pounds 1.3 million in a bid to improve its research assessment exercise results. The cash has been set aside for new professor ships in psychology, linguistics and social sciences and 16 other posts. It comes just weeks after the university's internal standards watchdog criticised it for focusing limited resources on top scholars and failing to invest in its junior members of staff.
