Cambridge University has appealed against the local council's decision to deny planning permission for a laboratory that would run primate experiments.
The dispute with the South Cambridgeshire District Council began when the proposal was rejected in January 2001. The university resubmitted the application, but the council rejected it again earlier this year, citing fears of animal-rights demonstrations and traffic problems.
