Cambridge University unveiled its masterplan for a West Cambridge campus this week. Vice chancellor Alec Broers said that development on the 150-acre site would "allow the university the space and modern facilities it desperately needs in order to compete with other leading international universities in the next century". Cambridge wants industry to help fund the venture, which will double the size of its campus.
