Call for proposals - design studies and the construction of new infrastructures and accompanying measures

November 12, 2003

Brussels, 11 Nov 2003

The European Commission has published a call for proposals for design studies and the construction of new infrastructures and accompanying measures under the 'research and infrastructures' activity area. This is one of the areas covered by the 'structuring the European Research Area' specific programme.

As specified under section 3.2.4 of the work programme, the objective of this call is to contribute, on a case-by-case basis, to feasibility studies and technical preparatory work undertaken in one or a number of Member States or Associated States.

The scheme refers to new infrastructures which have a clear European dimension and interest. Proposers should take into account the needs of all potential users and systematically explore the possibilities of contributions from other sources, including the European Investment Bank (EIB) or the Structural Funds (for projects located in Member States) for the funding of these infrastructures.

The Commission requests that proposals utilise the 'specific support action' funding instrument. The total indicative budget for this call is 70 million euro.
