Café Scientifique: Why should a change of climate in polar regions concern us all?

September 26, 2005

Brussels, 23 Sep 2005

An open discussion on climate change in polar regions will take place in Brussels, Belgium, on 6 October.

Organised by the British Council, this Café Scientifique discussion will bring biological oceanographer, Dr Geraint Tarling, from the British Antarctic Survey, to examine the history of climate change science and current evidence of its impact. Industrial emissions are believed to have the potential to alter the global ecosystem through a number of negative and positive feedbacks, and the presentation will consider their potential consequences for biological communities and society.

The event is part of 'Researchers in Society' (RISE), a programme of events run by the British Council and funded by the European Commission.
