Some 25 national Erasmus agencies have warned that decisions on the European budget last December amount in effect to no increase for education, fail to support the existing student-exchange programme at its present level and jeopardise projected initiatives. The agencies' directors say the budget for education will be less than half the €13.6 billion proposed by the European Commission for 2007-13.
