THE government is to review the role that training and enterprise councils play in delivering its lifelong learning agenda. Education secretary David Blunkett told MPs on Wednesday that he wants a wider review of lifelong learning including workforce development and skills training. At present local TECs deliver skills training and receive public money to buy courses from colleges. There are concerns about the value for money provided by TECs. Mr Blunkett's announcement means that the planned strategic review of TECs will be delayed until the summer.
