Blair chair for Liverpool

A £5 million chair in Irish studies is to be established at Liverpool University in honour of former Prime Minister Tony Blair. The "Blair chair" has been awarded to the university by the Irish Government, in recognition of the research, teaching and promotion of Irish affairs carried out by its Institute of Irish Studies. Mr Blair said the honour was "shared by the very many people in Northern Ireland and beyond who had the vision, courage and commitment to work towards a peaceful future".
