Birkbeck/Leicester/IES - Have a Dickens of a day

The life and work of Charles Dickens will be celebrated on 10 October. Birkbeck, University of London will host Dickens Day, an annual celebration that began in 1986 to mark the 150th anniversary of The Pickwick Papers' publication. Since then it has become a Birkbeck tradition, bringing together Dickens scholars and students. This year's Dickens Day, jointly run by Birkbeck, the University of Leicester, the Institute of English Studies and the Dickens Fellowship, seeks to explore scientific and technological ideas and metaphors in the author's novels and journalism.
