Bids invited to house headteacher college

Universities and colleges will be invited to bid for a new national college for headteachers. The college, announced by Tony Blair and education secretary David Blunkett (above) this week, would have Pounds 10 million start-up costs. A prospectus will be published next year and the college should open in 2000.
