The British Library is releasing Electronic Beowulf on CD-Rom, in the wake of Seamus Heaney's award-winning translation of the Anglo-Saxon text. The two-CD set includes the first complete colour facsimile of the original manuscript.
The project began in 1993 as part of an initiative to widen access to its collections. Images from the project were among the first pictures from medieval manuscripts to be published on the internet.
