The Council session will start on Monday 10 November 2003 at 10h00 under the chair of Mr Rocco BUTTIGLIONE, Italian Minister for European affairs, Mr. Antonio MARZANO, Italian Minister for Production Activities and Mrs Letizia MORATTI, Italian Minister for Education, Universities and Research.

During the morning, Ministers will start discussing the draft Directive on unfair commercial practices. Then, the Presidency will inform on the state of play regarding the Community patent.

Next on the agenda, the draft Directive on electromagnetic compatibility in which the Council endeavours to agree on a general approach, and the presentation by the Commission on its proposal concerning Chemicals.

The Competitiveness Council will also take the opportunity to discuss the issue of enhancing growth and competitiveness with a view to indicate priority areas for action.

Two draft resolutions will be submitted for adoption to Ministers, one concerns New Approach Directives and another Researchers profession.

A press conference will be held at the end of the meeting.
