Awards prove a big draw

July 6, 2007

Universities have entered this year's Times Higher Awards in record numbers.

More than 100 universities have submitted applications in one or more of the 17 judged categories.

Gerard Kelly, editor of The Times Higher , said: "The response from the sector has been overwhelming particularly for some of the new awards we have introduced this year.

"The diversity of submissions is a wonderful reflection of the contribution universities make to the country."

The shortlist will be announced on September 29.

The final Awards dinner will be held at the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane, London, on Thursday November 29.
