The Army has been enlisted by the University for Industry as one of its learning "hubs". Soldiers will be able to learn online from wherever they are posted, choosing from a wide range of courses, including information technology, business, and literacy and numeracy.
Four centres for learndirect - the delivery arm of the UfI - are to be established in garrisons across the UK. Each army learning centre will be equipped with IT suites and video-conferencing facilities.
