Leeds City Council

Paul Forbes, former senior assistant director in the department of community benefits and rights and previously assistant director of education within Leeds City Council, has been appointed director of training.

Institute of Linguists Henry Pavlovich will succeed Edda Ostarhild as director and chief executive of the institute in April 1998. He is a former senior manager at the BBC, where he ran commercial projects and a unit making English as a foreign language programmes for Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

Scottish Further Education Unit The Scottish Office has appointed the following to the board of management of the SFEU: chairman, Michael Leech, principal of Stevenson College, Edinburgh; members, Joyce Johnston, principal of Fife College of Further and Higher Education and Dennis Gunning, director of development at the Scottish Qualifications Authority.

Mid-Kent College of Higher & Further Education John Levett, acting chief executive since March 1997, has been appointed principal and chief executive. He was director of corporate operations prior to his appointment in 1997.
