Roger Ellis, professor and dean of the faculty of social and health sciences and education, has been appointed to strategic adviser to the vice-chancellor on all matters relating to the Dearing report.

University of Teesside

Dian Leppington, formerly a data processing manager and then curate of Chapeltown in Leeds, has been appointed university chaplain.

Institute of Chartered Accountants

Vivien Beattie, professor in the University of Stirling's department of accountancy, has been appointed director of the institute.
