Manchester Metropolitan

Barry Plumb, professor, pro vice chancellor and dean of the faculty of science and engineering, has been appointed academic director from September 1997; Richard Moody, former head of food and consumer studies at Robert Gordon Institute, head of the department of food and consumer technology.

University of Paisley

Seamus McDaid, dean of the faculty of business at Glasgow Caledonian University, has been appointed vice principal, succeeding Bill Steveley.

Trafford Park Manufacturing Institute Harold Hankins, former principal and vice chancellor of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, has been appointed chairman of the institute.
