Appeal on standards

February 12, 1999

There has been growing concern about alleged dilution of academic standards in British universities and degree-awarding colleges. There is a need to find out if the allegation is well founded. Mantz Yorke, of Liverpool John Moores University, and myself would be glad to hear from anyone with concrete evidence that standards are being maintained or that they are being diluted. Anyone willing to assist us, under guarantee of confidentiality, should write to me at Middlesex University, Trent Park, Bramley Road, London14 4YZ.
