Recent focus group research that called the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals "remote" and "pompous" seems not only to have bred an inferiority complex but a determination to bring in the heavies.

A CVCP recruitment advertisement for a top external relations post asks meekly:

"You haven't heard of us? Enough said." While the successful candidate will not necessarily need to know about higher education, they must show they can "influence" others - presumably without the use of baseball bats.
