May 22, 2003

Brussels, 21 May 2003

An AllChemE seminar on risk assessment of endocrine active compounds will take place on 10 June at the European Parliament in Brussels.

Two experts in the field, Professor Peter Calow from Sheffield University and Professor Joseph Vos form Utrecht University, will examine the issue of endocrine disruptors and their impact on wildlife from a scientific and regulatory perspective.

Discussions will also focus on the human health effects reported to be related to exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals.

The seminar is being hosted German MEP Karl-Heinz Florenz, with the support of the European representative body for chemistry and chemical engineering (AllChemE), and the international union of pure and applied chemistry (IUPAC).
