Brussels, 10 Aug 2004
The agricultural biotechnology international conference (ABIC) 2004 will be held from 12 to 15 September in Cologne, Germany, marking the first time that the event has been organised outside Canada.
Scientists, industrial managers, investors and policy makers will come together at the conference for an intensive exchange of experience in order to give new momentum to further the development of agricultural biotechnology. Participants will discuss the latest results from research and development in order to enable cooperation between academia and industry so that the transfer of laboratory results to industrial applications can be accelerated.
This year's event aims to bring 'AgBiotech back to Europe'. The organisers state that: 'With the imminent lift of the de facto moratorium on genetically modified food, the implementation of new European regulations and a more competitive European market, this conference is [as] important as ever to give new impulses to European AgBiotech research and AgBiotech business.'
