Agenda for the First Meeting of the Forum on University-based Research (link)

September 22, 2004

Brussels, 21 Sep 2004

The "Forum on University-based Research" is a working group created under the initiative of Commissioner Busquin in order to deepen the debate and the discussions that started with the Commission Communication on "The Role of the Universities in the Europe of Knowledge" and the Conference "The Europe of Knowledge 2020: a vision for University-Based Research and Innovation" organised in Liège in April 2004.

This Forum is a High Level Group of experts whose main objective is to help the European Commission in defining an EU policy framework promoting the necessary changes and reforms for universities in the context of building the ERA and achieving the Lisbon and Barcelona objectives. The Forum's work could also feed the current debate on the future Framework Programme.

The Forum is chaired by the European Commission who will also ensure the secretariat of the group.
