Post for a temporary agent pursuant to Article 2(a) of the Conditions of employment of other Servants

The Commission is seeking a replacement for its Chief Competition Economist, whose mandate expires on 1 September 2006 in the Directorate-General for Competition.

To be eligible, candidates must:

- be a citizen of a European Union Member State,

- hold a university degree that gives access to undertake doctoral studies and a doctorate in a branch of economics or econometrics relevant to competition policy,

- have at least 15 years' postgraduate professional experience at a level to which the qualifications referred to above give admission including at least 10 years at a senior level in fields relevant to the post,

- have a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the European Union and an adequate knowledge of another of these official languages.

The Chief Competition Economist will be selected and appointed by the Commission according to its selection and recruitment procedures. Salaries and conditions of employment are those laid down in the Conditions of employment of other servants of the European Communities for A*14 temporary agents.

This is a temporary assignment for three years, and is not renewable. The Commission applies an equal opportunities policy.
