A two-to-on gender bender

Male academics outnumber women by almost two to one in universities, according to the Higher Education Statistics Agency. Of the total 43,294 women, 35,694 are in England, 4,902 in Scotland, 1,891 in Wales and 807 are in Northern Ireland. Part-timers account for 9,064 of the total. There are a total of 84,782 men.
