Relations between academic staff and the management at Sheffield University must be pretty bad. It appears that non-union members could be taking part in the boycott of student exams and assessments over pay, just for the sheer hell of it. Last week, Bob Boucher, the vice-chancellor, e-mailed staff with the comment: "It is worth reminding non-AUT members that they are not subject to the call by the AUT to take action."
