Lord Sainsbury has been telling friends that as long as Tony Blair remains keen for him to stay on as Science Minister, he will remain in the role until at least Christmas. This will please the science community, which has been fretting that one of their best behind-the-scenes defenders might abandon them to some clueless junior minister.
