£1m grant for strokes

The University of Central Lancashire has won a £1 million grant from the Department of Health to research new ways of training the emergency services to recognise the early signs of stroke. The project, known as Emergency Stroke Calls: Obtaining Rapid Telephone Triage (Escortt) is expected to help ambulance staff recognise stroke victims and to ensure early intervention.
