Life on Campus

Our airy and bright campus offers a real community feel, with ready access to student services, food outlets catering for every palate, student accommodation, sports facilities, beautiful grounds, and plenty of places for socialising. We also have an on-site Students’ Union. There are excellent transport options from our campus, giving easy access to Edinburgh city centre (six minutes by train) and East Lothian’s beautiful coast and countryside.

Accommodation

Finding the right place to live will play a crucial role in your university experience. We know you have lots of options when choosing somewhere to stay, but we believe that staying in University accommodation is the best option for most. Living on campus will allow you to enjoy your time with us in a welcoming and sociable environment.

Campus is just a short walk away from local shops and the historic town of Musselburgh where you will find a swimming pool, a theatre and even an award-winning ice cream parlour. Fort Kinnaird is also close by and is a leading Edinburgh shopping destination with over 75 shops, numerous restaurants and a cinema. There are frequent services to Edinburgh city centre by bus and train and a night bus service will get you home cheaply and safely.

Sports Centre

Queen Margaret University Sports Centre offers a range of facilities to staff, students and the general public. We provide a safe, friendly and informative environment so you can enjoy your chosen sport to the full. Our facilities include a fitness suite with state-of-the-art equipment, weights room, sports hall and an outdoor all-weather pitch.

Our fully qualified, friendly and professional staff are on-hand to offer quality service and are happy to assist with any questions you may have.

Students’ Union

Situated at the heart of the campus, Queen Margaret University Students' Union is a not-for-profit organisation led by students. The Students' Union is a registered charity and works to ensure students have the best university experience while studying at QMU. We offer advice and support, student representation, extra-curricular activities, volunteer opportunities and operate Maggie's Bar & Café as a student-centred social space.

The main purpose of The Students' Union is to represent the students of Queen Margaret University. As soon as you matriculate, you're automatically a member of the Students' Union and can participate in all our activities.

Careers and Employability

You may have clear ideas about where you are heading with your career. On the other hand, you may not have a clue what you are going to do when you graduate. You may not even be aware of what options are open to you.

Our Careers and Employability team can help you, no matter what stage you are in thinking about your career. We encourage you to use our service from the moment you begin your studies to the time you graduate, and beyond.

We provide many services for students, staff and graduates - in the form of opportunities to meet an adviser, attend workshops, drop-in sessions and clinics. Our dedicated team of professional staff is here to help.
