(Silicon Valley International Inventions Festival 2025)
Lingnan University won 14 awards for 13 inventions presented at the 11th Silicon Valley International Inventions Festival 2025 (SVIIF), including 8 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and a special award - Prize of the International Federation of Inventors’ Association (IFIA) led by Prof Sam Tak Wu KWONG, Associate Vice-President (Strategic Research).

Humanitarian technology refers to the application of technology and innovation to improve the welfare and well-being of people, especially the underprivileged and underserved communities. It encompasses a wide range of approaches, methods and tools designed to address and solve humanitarian challenges in a more efficient, scalable, and impactful way.The goal of humanitarian technology is to facilitate access to essential services - such as healthcare, education, clean water and sanitation - to enhance the overall quality of life for affected populations. It emphasises on innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. Involving a multidisciplinary approach, it draws on expertise and collaboration from engineering, information technology, health sciences, social sciences and other fields to develop solutions that are not only effective but also economically viable, culturally appropriate and environmentally sustainable.
