Online business service aims for global reach

June 14, 1996

An online business information service that links to around 6,000 sources has been launched by News International, owners of the Times Supplements, and DataTimes corporation. The THES will shortly become available on News EyeQ, the new service, one week after being published in print.

News EyeQ is a subscription service available from desktop PCs, via dial-up rather than on the Internet. The service consists of a database of around 6,000 sources of information including national and regional newspapers, trade journals and magazines, company financial information, market research, country profiles, up-to-the-minute share prices, exchange rates and market indices. News EyeQ offers two standard pricing options, a Pounds 20 monthly subscription plus Pounds 2 per full text article or a Pounds 50 subscription with 75p per article.

Users can search the entire database in seconds with article information ranked by relevance and with related topics suggested to help to refine searches, which are free until the text of the article is requested.
